LIVING GRAIN AND GLUTEN-FREE WITH FOOD LABELING

It is essential for those who must avoid grains and gluten to read food labels to stay healthy. They must know if the product is “safe” or requires a call to the manufacturer for further clarification. The Food Allergen Labeling and Consumer Protection Act was signed into law in 2004. It requires all food labels to state whether a product contains one of the 8 major foods that account for the majority of food allergies. Wheat is one of the major foods included in this list.
